2021 Training Camp

Bikepacking is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing cycling specialties. It combines pushing your physical endurance and mental resilience limits beyond what most people could conceive. The feeling of freedom and accomplishment is incredible.

Yet many cyclists look at it from afar and think that’s impossible. Maybe you think you could never do it. Everybody can. No need to be a super-athlete. No need to be a racer. No need to be fast. Although being physically fit helps, it’s all about pacing, and it’s all in the head.

TRY BIKEPACKING - NO PRESSURE!

It can be terrified to just jump in and test yourself in a major race worried you may not even be able to cover half-the-distance. You may worry about equipment, about riding at night, about navigation, about where and how to sleep.

This is why we invite you to participate in the Bikepacking Training Camp.

It’s not a race. It’s not timed. There is no pressure.

It’s open to all cyclists with no experience in bikepacking. It’s also conceived for all experienced bikepackers who wish to train for a future event.

2021 May Training Camps

Choose your distance and training camp:

2 Days: June 5-6
1 camping night + 1 night ride

3 Days: June 8-10
1 camping night + 1 night ride

6 Days: June 5-10
2 camping nights + 2 night rides

You can choose between 2, 3 or 6-Day Training camp. The two- and three-day training camp will each include one camping night with your own gear, and one ride night ride (we’ll start early morning before dawn). The 6-Day training includes 2 nights camping and two night rides. Other nights will be in pre-arranged accommodations.

SUPPORT — YOU’RE NOT ALONE

A professional cycling coach and experienced bikepacking racer will ride the course. The first hour will be done as a group with other participants to exchange experiences and learn from each other. Each day, there will be a challenging road itinerary, with shortcut options so you can adapt the distance to your wishes.

A difference with a race, is that there will be some support. It’s not fully supported cycling tour with a vehicle following you everywhere carrying your gear and letting you jump in at any time. But the vehicle will carry essential tools. Can carry one small bag that you may retrieve in the evening (to carry spare equipment or clothing). The vehicle can also pick you up if you have mechanical problems are aren’t able to finish the ride of the day*.

*Some restrictions will apply with specific cut-out time and places after the which the vehicle may be too far on the course to return and pick you up.
So it’s a not full support, but you’re not alone and our support vehicle will offer you great peace of mind and comfort as you experience your first bikepacking adventure, or as you train for your next challenge.

A BEAUTIFUL ADVENTURE

This Bikepacking Training Camp is also one of the best ways to discover the beauty of the Pyrenees. Pyrenees native coach and bikepacking expert J-Philippe Soule organizer of the Ultra Bike Pursuit series, designed the itineraries to showcase the absolute best of the Pyrenees. You’ll ride on some roads of the Ultra Bike Pursuit. There is no better way to discover the absolute beauty of the Pyrenees mountains on a reasonable budget. 

It’s the perfect bickepacking camp for both an initiation to the sport, or for those experts who wish to train in the mountains to prepare for a huge event. And there are no better ways to train for the Ultra Bike Pursuit event, climbing the same mountains and riding with the event organiser.

TEST YOURSELF - 2-Day CHALLENGE

Pyrenees Bikepacking Event: June 12-13, 2021

And finally, you can put it all together by participating in the Pyrenees 36 - Your Best 36 Hours Bikepacking Challenge event. You have up to 2 Days and 1 Night to ride this event.

The clock doesn’t stop. A perfect introduction to mountain bikepacking events. But for the most experienced bikepacker, it’s also the best way to push your limits within 36 hours.

36 HOURS PYRENEES CHALLENGE

What can you do in 36hrs: June 12-13, 2021

36hrs Your Pace, Your Challenge

Your choice: 5 to 15 Mountain Climbs

All participants must follow the course and climb the first five climbs to qualify as Finishers.  After the 5th, all climbs are optional, but must be done (or skipped) in a specific order. You can skip one, two or more climbs as you want. Each climb yields additional points. You just must cross the finish line between 24 and 36 hours.

5 mountains (shortest option): 224 km / 6,000m

15 mountains (longest option): 645 km / 18,000m+

…and anything in between!
